$VALE Tokenomics

The $VALE token is the governance and utility token of the Vale protocol. It enables community ownership, protocol governance, and access to exclusive features.
$VALE has not launched yet. This page describes the planned token design. Details may change before launch.

Token Utility

$VALE provides three core utilities within the Vale ecosystem:

1. Priority Pool Access

Community First

$VALE holders receive reserved capacity in high-demand vaults. When popular yield opportunities have limited capacity, token holders get priority allocation.

2. Governance Rights

Protocol Direction

$VALE holders vote on key protocol decisions including: - Which chains to expand to - Which protocols to integrate - Fee parameters - Treasury allocation

3. Community Rewards

Shared Benefits

$VALE holders participate in community reward programs. As Vale integrates with new protocols and earns partner incentives, token holders share in the benefits.

Token Distribution

The $VALE token supply is designed to prioritize the community while ensuring long-term protocol sustainability.

Vesting Schedules

To ensure long-term alignment, significant portions of the token supply are subject to vesting:

Team Tokens

  • 12-month cliff (no tokens released for first year)
  • 36-month linear vesting after cliff
  • Total vesting period: 4 years

Ecosystem Tokens

  • Released progressively based on integration milestones
  • Used for liquidity provision and partner incentives

Treasury Tokens

  • Governed by token holder votes
  • Used for ongoing protocol development

Community Allocation

The 40% community allocation is the largest category and includes:

Points Conversion

Vale Points earned through deposits will convert to $VALE tokens at launch:
  • Conversion rate to be announced
  • All points are on-chain verifiable via EAS attestations
  • Larger depositors and longer-term holders earn more

Future Airdrops

A portion of community allocation is reserved for:
  • Early adopters
  • Active governance participants
  • Community contributors

Ongoing Incentives

Continuous rewards for:
  • Liquidity providers
  • Protocol usage
  • Governance participation

Governance

$VALE enables decentralized governance of the Vale protocol:

What Token Holders Vote On

Chain Expansion

Which new chains should Vale deploy on?

Protocol Integration

Which yield protocols should Vale integrate?

Fee Structure

Should protocol fees be adjusted?

Treasury Spend

How should treasury funds be allocated?

Governance Process

  1. Proposal: Any token holder can submit a proposal
  2. Discussion: Community discussion period
  3. Voting: Token-weighted voting
  4. Execution: Approved proposals are implemented
